Design is very much supra-national in character, often containing components, ideas and labour that are global or regional.1 Drawing from visual cultures originating in Europe, China and Southeast Asia, Prewar Sinophone Graphics in colonial Singapore is a product of transnational movements, relations and expression. This collection includes artefacts and ideas that suggest complex narratives of design beyond national boundaries.
